Pastor George Fry - Banjo
....Born and raised in Damascus, MD, George now resides in Mt, Airy, MD with his wife Janet. He has a son and 2 daughters. George is an original band member. He has been playing the banjo since his high school days. George is the Pastor at the Damascus Church of the Nazarene which he started in 2003. He also is a special education teacher for Montgomery County and is active as a high school and travel team softball coach.
Richard Arrington - Dobro
.....Richard is one of the founding fathers of the band. A retired dairy farmer, Richard resides in Mt. Airy, Maryland, with his wife, Dorothy, and is a member of Marvin Chapel Methodist Church. Richard is also a member of The String Band America.
George Green - Mandolin
.....George Green joined the band in 1990. He started with the band playing the guitar, which he has played all his life, and the bass. For the past year, George has been the band's mandolin player. George, his wife, Jill and daugher Danielle, are members of Damascus United Methodist Church. George also has 3 grown children and 4 grand children. George's music ministry continues outside of the band where plays children's songs at Sunday School and plays monthly at Carroll Lutheren and Sykesville Nursing homes
Rod Fry - Guitar
.....Rod played the mandolin in the band from 1993 thru 2000. In late 2009, he rejoined the band as a guitar player. Born and raised in Damascus, MD, he now resides in Urbana, MD with his wife Jeannie. Rod has a son and a daugher, a grand daughter and 2 stepsons, a stepdaughter and a stepgrandson. He is a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Urbana. Rod is a physical education teacher in Montgomery County and is a former college women's fastpitch softball coach. He is also a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and the local Frederick Chapter; Won by One.
Gordon Williams - Slide Guitar/Harmonica
.....Gordon resides in Eldersburg, MD. He has 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. Gordon actually plays a variety of instruments....basically, anything with strings. He has been playing for 70 years and joined the band in 2005. Gordon is a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his grandchildren, as well as playing music with friends and String Band America.
Richard MacKenzie - Upright Bass
.....Dick is retired and hails from Mt. Airy, MD. His home church is St. Michaels and has been with the band since 2008. He plays bass in the winter months when Joe Zang is staying warm in Florida. He has an outstanding voice and is an important vocalist to the band.
Joe Zang - Upright Bass
.....Joe is retired military and hails from Eldersburg, MD and has been a part of the band for 5 years. and has been playing for 32 years. Not only does he play bass, but he is an accomplished banjo player as well. When not playing with the band, he enjoys doing yard work, golf and participating with his military organizations. He has a wife, Shirley, a son, Mark, and 2 grandaughters
